Academics

Instruction is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education's New Learning Standards and the CCS curriculum guides. Starling's educational philosophy encompasses the structure of STEAM learning. This helps our students embody inquiry-based instruction across all subjects, including the arts. We learn to ask important questions, solve complex problems multiple ways, and drive advancements in science and technology. The project-based nature of the curriculum necessitates innovative classroom environments that emphasize the use of imagination, creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and multiple solutions. Starling has an extraordinary commitment to providing our students with state-of-the-art technology in every classroom.

Starling also implements a variety of instructional strategies and resources offered by CCS including reading enrichment programs and the Balanced Literacy Program. Students in need of additional assistance with reading skills are tutored through the LLI and Franklinton Tutor programs.
